The Tolkien Society are delighted to announce that Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning composer Bear McCreary the composer of the score to Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, will be joining us for Oxonmoot this year.
Bear McCreary is a lifelong Tolkien fan – having first read The Hobbit at the age of 10 – and described working on The Rings of Power as “a dream come true”. The soundtrack to the television series received widespread acclaim from critics, viewers and Tolkien aficionados alike, who praised McCreary for creating new and stunning themes that complement the series whilst maintaining a similar feel to Howard Shore’s scores of The Lord of the Rings films.
Before working on The Rings of Power, McCreary worked on well-received projects including the video game God of War, television series Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, and Outlander, and films 10 Cloverfield Lane and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
