When Iluvatar allows Melkor's theme to remain so that it would prove his instrument, he sets the stage for eucatastrophe through the Middle Earth saga. Many of the ways that eucatastrophe is played is through the existence of the Hobbits, the unlooked for race of men who end up perfectly suited, or end up in the right place, to turn around the hopeless situation. This paper will look at the ways the Hobbits prove Iluvatar's instrument of hope.
