A Series of Many Colours
Rings of Power has been both appreciated and criticized for introducing a multi-racial cast. This Panel will explore different facets of multi-racialism in this TV series from a non-European perspective. Some questions will include:
-To what extent have the emerging economies of the BRIC countries affected the inclusion of a diverse cast, as the production studios seek to expand their audience?
-How believable is the ethnicity of different races or characters?
-Who is your favourite character and why?
-Which is your favourite race or group of peoples and why?
-Are there are any characters or races that you find particular annoying in terms of how their ethnicity is portrayed? If so, why?
-Can you comment on the way the arcs of various characters, races, or peoples were treated in the first season? Are you (dis)satisfied with this treatment? Please feel free to give your reasons for it.
-What would you like to see in Season 2 of Rings of Power with regards to its diverse cast members?
