There are many spaces in the Tolkien fandom whose utility, validity, and significance as " which are occasionally overlooked:

1) kinships and role playing activities found within and fostered by the video gaming platform Lord of the Rings Online
2) the multitude of Tolkien based Discord servers, each promoting interest in Tolkien's works in ways ranging from extremely specific to broadly inclusive
3) the proliferation of fandom community spaces dedicated to the support or creation of fanart, fanfiction or other forms of fanworks.

All of the above serve to funnel newly interested persons to the core literature of the Legendarium, if we let them--and if we are willing to examine what makes a commuity "good,",  and 
In this session, we will elaborate upon what is listed above (20-30 minutes) and then open the room for discussion.
