About me
Charlotte Brockway graduated from Drew University with a B.A. in English, Writing, and Medieval Studies, and an M.F.A. in Popular Fiction from Emerson College. She is the author of Growth Through Loss—a collection of short stories and poems and "My Name is..."—a short story about a female cyborg as part of Asian Diasporas, Techno-Orientalism, and Asian Futurism. She is a bookseller and Author Events Coordinator at Barnes & Noble in Bridgewater NJ. She has previously spoken on the influence of Atlantis and Egypt in Tolkien’s Númenor at Oxonmoot 2023. Charlotte is also working on a fantasy series, titled Grimwalda (Legacy of Grimmrverold), and plans to be published soon along with short story retellings of Medusa, Ursula, the Sea Witch, and Sleeping Beauty (so be on the lookout for that). Her favorite genres are fantasy (High/Epic, Urban. Dragons, Vampires and witches, Mythology), Historical Fiction/Romance (Medieval), Mystery, Thriller (Murder Mystery/Detective), Adventure (Pirates, Dungeons & Dragons: Forgotten Realms), Young Adult, Contemporary (Realistic Fiction, Mental Health, Coming of Age-High School, Teen) and Cultural (African American/Africa). Her favorite reads are The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Wheel of Time, and Outlander. Her favorite authors are Laurie Halse Anderson (Speak and Catalyst), Gordon R. Dickson (The Dragon Knight series), Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, Toni Morrison, R.A. Salvatore, Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games), Mary Shelley (Frankenstein), Joy Ellis (Jackman and Evans series), Philippa Gregory, Alison Weir, Dan Jones, Diana Gabaldon, Bernard Cornwall, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Madeleine L’Engle, Andrezej Sapkowski and of course, J.R.R. Tolkien. Charlotte enjoys spending time with her family and friends in her free time, listening to Audible, Insanity Workout with Shaun T, going to Renaissance fairs and comic cons, and walking her dog. She lives in Somerset County, NJ with her family, her cat, Ghost, and her rottweiler-german shepherd-golden retriever mix, Jack.
