About me
Mercury Natis (they/them) is a PhD candidate at the University of Glasgow, focusing on the queer historical contexts that influenced Tolkien's works. They earned their first MA in Museum Education, with a background in Art History, and are completing their second MA with Signum University in Imaginative Literature. Their primary focus is on queer resonances in interwar fantasy, in the pre-identity politics age of ambiguity. They are also interested in the intersection between horror, enchantment and trauma in Tolkien's works, and in nosing about Bag-End to find where Old Mad Baggins is really keeping all that treasure.
